TRANSFER OF CONSULAR REGISTRATION FILE – REMOVAL– RE-REGISTRATION

The transfer of the consular registration file is necessary in case of relocation in another country outside Greece and Albania.

The transfer of the file is carried out within a period of at least three weeks.

The request for the transfer of the file from Greece to another country must be transferred to the Consular Services of the Embassy of Algeria in Athens by the Consulate/Embassy covering the new residency.

On the other hand, if a citizen is registered in another country and wishes to transfer their administrative file to Greece, their request to the Embassy shall be accompanied by the following documents:

  • Photocopy of a valid consular registration card
  • Valid identity document (passport)
  • Residence permit in Greece or Albania and a photocopy thereof.

The removal from the consular registration records, in accordance with articles 36 of the Presidential Decree No. 2-405 of 26/11/2002 related to the Consular Competences; in particular Articles 26 and 27 shall be carried out in the following cases:

  • Death
  • Definitive return in Algeria
  • Relocation to a region outside the coverage region of the Consulate (Greece, Albania)
  • Request of removal by the citizen
  • Absence for more than ten (10) years.

IMPORTANT: Removal from Consular Register also entails the removal of the citizens’ names from the electoral roll during the annual and extraordinary reviews, in order to update our electoral listing.

The re-registration in the consular registration records is compulsory for every citizen re-settling at the consular district after having received a CCR or after having requested their removal.

The citizen has to present the same documents as those for the first registration.
