MILITARY SERVICE

Military service is compulsory for every Algerian citizen aged eighteen (18) and over, residing in Greece and Albania.
The management of military service involves:

• The census of the Algerian nationals established in the consular district.
• Receipt of requests for deferment and exemption.
• Receipt of duplicate requests for a deferment or exemption card, or military booklet.

The census operation takes place during the first quarter of each year. It concerns Algerian citizens aged 18 and over residing in the consular district of Greece or Albania.

For the census:

• Birth certificate.
• Copy of the Algerian identity card.
• Copy of the consular registration card.
• Copy of the valid residence permit.
• Certificate of education (original) of the current year, or any document justifying a professional activity.
• Four (04) recent and compatible passport photos.

Deferment application or renewal:

• Same documents as those provided for in census file.
• Card or certificate of the established deferment,
• Two (2) identical and recent identity photos,
•  Copy of the residence permit
• Valid certificate of education or training.

Exemption requests:

• Family provider
• Consular registration card and a photocopy thereof.
• Handwritten exemption request.
• Birth certificate
• Photocopy of the parents' family booklet.
• Father's death certificate, if applicable
• Act of divorce or parental separation (Excerpt from divorce decree) where applicable.
• Certificate of non-salaried activity or other proof of disability or incapacity of the parents to work.
• Last three payslips and / or certificate or employment, contract or any other document certifying a freelance activity (business register).
• Acquired diplomas
• End of studies certificate
• Individual fiche (available at the Consular Service).
• Photocopy of the residence permit.

Medical exemption:

• The same documents as those requested in census file.
• Medical certificate issued by a university hospital center or by a specialist.
• Photocopy of the residence permit.
• Certificate of education or employment certificate.
