EMERGENCY PASSPORT / LAISSEZ-PASSER

The emergency passport is issued on an exceptional basis in favor of Algerian citizens, non-holders of a biometric passport, residing abroad and registered at a Diplomatic/Consular representation.

This favor is granted to citizens who “for family, professional, administrative or health reasons” must urgently travel outside their country of residency.
The emergency passport is also granted for:

• Algerian citizens, living abroad and registered in another country “who are temporarily in another country and have lost/damaged or been deprived of their travel document by robbery"
• Algerian citizens non-registered in a Diplomatic/Consular representation whose request of residency permit has been accepted by local authorities and are in need of a valid passport.

The passport is valid for one year and it cannot be renewed.

How to obtain an emergency passport:

Required documents:

• The application form duly filled in and signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian for minors, bearing the print of the applicant's left index finger.
• Copy of the expired passport; or the declaration made by the local Police authorities in case of loss, theft or deterioration for Algerian citizens staying abroad or outside the country of consular registration
• Two (02) pictures in color
• Criminal record
• Pending certificate of deposit for residence permit or valid residence permit card for Greece/Albania.
• Payment of the passport fees in cash is sixty (60) €/fiscal stamp
• In case of loss, theft or deterioration of the passport, at the moment of submission of the request for an emergency passport, the applicant must also pay the tax of loss, which amounts to one hundred (100) €. 

The Laissez-passer is a travel document issued for Algerian citizens not registered and in lack of a valid passport or other travel document.
The Laissez-passer has a limited duration of validity and should only be used to return to Algeria on a one way flight via the shortest trajectory.
The document is free of charge. The applicant must present at the Consular Service the required documents proving his Algerian nationality (photocopy of passport, identity card or photocopy, military card).

White Laissez-passer:

• Signature and imprint of your left index finger on the duly filled in application form
• National Identity card or photocopy of Algerian passport or military card with photo or military booklet
• Two (02) pictures in color
• One way airplane Ticket towards Algeria or place of residence.

 Blue Laissez-passer  (for citizens entering illegally the country):

• Signature and imprint of your left index finger on the duly filled in application form
• Copy of National Identity card or Copy of Algerian passport or Copy of Military card with photo
• Copy of birth certificate
• Certificate of residence in Algeria
• Two (02) photos in color
• One way airplane ticket to Algeria; if the applicant is illegally in Greece their return must be planned via a country outside the European Union.
