ELECTIONS

Registration on the consular electoral list is mandatory so as to be able to vote. Nationals who fulfill the legally required conditions and do not appear on an electoral list must request their registration.

The Algerian citizens wishing to register on the Electoral list or to be removed from the list must download the following Registration Form and/or Request of Removal from the Electoral List.

The forms are also available at the Athens Consular Services. Applications must be duly completed, dated and signed by nationals residing within the consular district and sent by email or deposited at the Consular Registry. 

Conditions and procedure for registration on the list of electors:

• The national must be 18 years old and over.
• Be registered at the Embassy.
• Enjoy their civil and civic rights.

Revision of the electoral list
The annual revision of the list of voters takes place from October 1st to October 31st of each year. The list of voters may also be revised exceptionally, on the occasion of the announcement of a poll. The dates of the opening and closing of the period of the exceptional revision are fixed by the Presidential Decree convening the electorate. The Embassy publishes the notice of opening and closing of the exceptional revision period of the voters' list.

The revision of the list is carried out for the list to be up to date. Voters who have changed their place of residence or who have not appeared at the Embassy for more than ten years are automatically removed from the register and newly registered nationals of the consular district are invited to register.

Vote by proxy

The elector may, at his request, exercise his right to vote by proxy if they belong to one of the following categories:

• Persons who are hospitalized or confined at home due to sickness
• Chronically ill or disabled persons
• Nationals working outside the consular district and / or being on the move, those retained at the place of work during the polls and those who are temporarily abroad
• The proxy period is set by regulation.
